Westminster, Md (KM) A school bus accident Monday afternoon in Carroll County remains under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies and fire and rescue personnel responded to Route 32 at Deer Park Road at around 3:38 PM, where a school bus had left the roadway and struck an embankment. Authorities say the driver was a 70-year-old man from Westminster who was suffering from an apparent medical emergency. Medics provided life-saving care. He was transported to Carroll Hospital Center for further treatment.
One of the students on board who was a eight-year-old boy was also taken to the hospital as a precaution. One other adult and three children were on the bus at the time.
Deputies say the bus sustained minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene.
