The event aims to grow trust between law enforcement and the community.
Frederick, MD (NS) – The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) and the YMCA of Frederick County will host the 38th Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.
The event will be Tuesday, August 3 from 6-8 PM at the Natelli Family YMCA at 3481 Campus Drive, Ijamsville, MD.
FCSO Sheriff Chuck Jenkins says, “We look forward to strengthening our neighborhood ties and police-community partnerships by offering a variety of static vehicles, demonstrations, and deputy and civilian engagements.”
There will also be kid’s activities, food trucks, and representatives from the Urbana Fire Department, State Attorney’s Office, FCSO SWAT team, FCSO Victims Services Unit, and FCSO Recruitment.
The schedule of events:
- 6 PM: Event start
- 6:30 PM: Comments from Sheriff Chuck Jenkins and Chris Colville, YMCA of Frederick County President and CEO
- 7 PM: FCSO K9 demonstration
FCSO Spokesperson Todd Wivell said on WFMD’s Morning News Express, “It’s a chance for the community to come out and just talk to these men and women and understand that they are a partner in the community. They live there, they work there, they buy groceries and they do everything that we do.”
