ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — Authorities in Maryland say that one person is dead after heavy rains from the remnants of Hurricane Ida flooded an apartment complex in Rockville. The Montgomery County Police Department said in a news release Wednesday that one other resident from the complex was still unaccounted for.
The name of the 19-year-old person who died has not be released.
Authorities received multiple calls early Wednesday for flooding in terrace level apartments of the Rock Creek Woods apartment complex. Rescue crews evacuated dozens of people. About 12 apartments were flooded, while another 50 were impacted. About 150 residents have been displaced.
Three people were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. A firefighter was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
