Frederick, MD (NS) The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, along with the help of the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement Team and Community Assistance Volunteers, will be responsible for the safety and security of everyone at The Great Frederick Fair. This year’s Fair is September 17-25.
Lieutenant Jason Deater says, “Everybody works great together. We’ve been doing this for a while now so we pretty much have things down to an art.”
The Sheriff’s Office will provide interior security to the Fair during the day and add security for traffic direction and crosswalk safety at night.
Deputies working the event will concentrate on law breaking, missing people, and emergency situations.
For the Fair, the Sheriff’s Office is using its opt-in text line to distribute weather and safety alerts in real time. To sign up, text GFFair to 888777. The texts will only be used for emergencies.
