FREDERICK, Md. (BW)- The town of New Market is hosting a 5K and a cornhole tournament on Sunday, Oct. 2 to raise money for Breast Cancer awareness.
This New Market Strong event is in memory of Karen Durbin, a New Market native who lost her long battle with breast cancer in November 2020.
The 5K starts at 9 a.m. Registration costs $35 in advance and $40 to register on the day of the race.
The Cornhole tournament starts at noon and costs $50 per team to register.
For both the 5K and cornhole tournament, there will be awards and prizes.
There will also be live music, vendors, food, wine and beer.
The event will take place at New Market Town Hall, located at 40 South Alley.
Parking for the event is available along main street, at the community park, New Market United Methodist Church, and the Grange (14 South Alley).
Net proceeds will be donated to the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund partnered with Frederick Health Hospital Cancer Center.
