FREDERICK, Md. (BW)- The National Park Service is seeking public input to add recreational opportunties and improve land conservation of Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park at White’s Ferry.
The public is invited to provide input until Nov. 12.
Christiana Hanson, a representative for the NPS, said that public input is important for moving forward with this plan.
The NPS plans to improve the protection of forest areas and meadows in the park in order to prevent flooding. It also plans add a gathering and play area as well repair and renovate restrooms, picnic tables and the pavillion on the north tract.
The NPS also plans to add campgrounds to the park.
White’s Ferry is a 73 acre piece of land that includes open spaces a picninc pavillion, a large parking lot, wooded areas, river access and historical structures.
Those wishing to provide comment on the future of the park can attend a live, virtual meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. The public can also call in to the meeting to express their input (877-286-5733). Other ways to provide comment include visiting the NPS website or mailing in a letter using the address below.
