L:t. Caliskan says the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is part of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force consisting of other law enforcement agencies inside and outside of Frederick County. “And the way our unit is set up, a lot of our cases do travel outside of the Frederick County jurisdiction,” he says. “We’re prominently concerned for our background here in Frederick County, responsible for the drug laws here in Frederick County.”
“The public should recognize that this is a very significant, large-scale investigation that took down a major drug supplier to the region,”: says Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, in a statement. “The numerous months of investigation consumed many hours of manpower..”
“The quantities of fentanyl and crystal meth, believed to have come from Mexico, were by far the largest quantities seized in the local Frederick–Washington County region. This major take down is a clear win for law enforcement and with the quantities of fentanyl and fentanyl pills seized and removed off the streets, it is no doubt lives will be saved. This is yet another example of our strong and effective ongoing drug enforcement efforts in Frederick County.”
Other agencies taking part in this operation include the Frederick, Hagerstown and Brunswick Police Departments, the Washington and Frederick County State’s Attorneys Offices and the US Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
