They’re located in the Riverside Corporate Park.
Frederick, Md (KM) The ribbon is expected to be cut on Wednesday, May 3rd at the new Frederick County Board of Elections office which is located at 8490 Progress Drive, just off of Monocacy Boulevard in the Riverside Corporate Park. The ceremony is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 AM. Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor and County Executive Jessica Fitzwater are expected to be there.
Even though a lot of business takes place on line, County Election Program Manager Tom Coogan says a few people still come to the office take care of things like getting a new voter registration card because they’ve moved, or changing their party registration. “This being an off year, the traffic is very light,” he says. “But as we get toward the end of the year, and, of course, in the beginning of 2024 with it being a presidential election, in-office traffic will pick up.”
All visits to the Board of Elections office is by appointment only. Call 301-600-VOTE (8683) to make an appointment.
The Board of Election was located along Montevue Lane for many years, and Coogan says this new facility may be a little difficult for some people to find. “It’s not the most easiest, but it’s very friendly as far as being able to park and access our office,”: he says.
“It’s actually going to provide us with a larger training facility,” Coogan continues. “That larger training facility is what we’ll need to train anywhere from 800 to 1,000 election judges early next year.”
Coogan says the Board of Elections invites anyone who is interested to apply to become an election judge. They can find more information by calling 301-600-VOTE (8683), or by sending an e-mall to [email protected].
