Sentence took place in Frederick County Circuit Court on Friday.

Frederick, Md (KM) A 12-year prison sentence was handed down on Friday to a Frederick man for drug and weapons charges. Israel Herman Logan, 26, entered a guilty plea to two counts of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, and two counts of possession of a firearm with a prior conviction of a crime of violence, and one count of conspiracy to participate in a straw purchase of a firearm.
The State’s Attorney’s Office says Logan was arrested on May 3rd, 2023 after a search and seizure warrant was served on his apartment at 5203 Black Locust Drive. The Frederick Police Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Section found 195 tablets of fentanyl, a Glock Model 20 handgun, a Glock Model 30 handgun, and a Bersa 380 handgun. . His cell phone was also searched. It showed videos of Logan in front of a minor counting a large amount of money with two handguns in front of him. and the defendant pulling a third handgun from his pocket.
A total of $7,448.95 was seized from Logan.
Through an investigation prior to the arrest, authorities discovered that Logan, who was incarcerated at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, made a video call to co-defendant Melany Marchun, with whom he had a relationship, to purchase Glock handguns for him. Investigators say Logan told Marchun to buy the guns because he was aware due to a felony conviction that he could not purchase firearms. The State’s Attorney’s Office say Marchun bought two Glock handguns from West Virginia. They were confiscated during the May 3rd search and seizure operation.
In another case, Logan entered an Alford Plea to a charge of illegal possession of a firearm with a prior conviction for a crime of violence. That means he does not admit guilt, but acknowledges the state has enough evidence for a conviction.
Logan was arrested for a firearms discharged in October, 2022 in the area of 187 Pennsylvania Avenue in Frederick. Police responding to the scene observed bullet holes on the side of the building. Later, it was determined through video surveillance that three persons fired numerous rounds at unidentified persons standing outside of vehicles on Hope Circle.
The sentence was imposed by Circuit Court Judge Julie Stevenson Soil. For the narcotics count, Logan received 20 years with all but two years to serve. He received 15 years for illegal possession of a firearm, with all but five years suspended. That’s the mandatory minimum without the possibility of parole. For the other count of illegal possession of a firearm, Logan received 15 years with all but five to serve.
The State’s Attorney’s Office says the two, five-year terms for illegal possession of a firearm will be served consecutively. On the charge of conspiracy to participate in a straw purchase of a firearm, Logan was given ten years which will be served concurrently with the other counts.
