Two Juveniles Charged In Playground Fire In Frederick County

They set fire to playground equipment, and took pictures with their phones.

Adamstown, Md (KM) The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says two juveniles have been charged with setting fire to playground equipment last month. The two brothers, age 14 and 15, are charged with malicious destruction of property and malicious burning. They have been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Services.

On June 29th at around 4:43 AM, fire fighters were dispatched to Green Hill Park in the 2800 block of Decatur Drive in Adamstown for a fire involving playground equipment. The flames were quickly extinguished. Damage to the equipment is estimated at $230. 000

Detectives  with the Sheriff’s Office say the two boys ignited tissues in and under the playground equipment which caused the damage. They also took pictures of the fire with their phones. Those  photos have been preserved.

The Sheriff’s Office says it gives credit to assistance it received from  neighborhood residents who provided invaluable information and videos that helped detectives with this case. “We are very grateful for  their assistance,” the Sheriff’s Office says in a statement.
