Middletown Md (KM) The Maryland State Highway Administration says work has been completed on replacing the Maryland 17 bridge over Middle Creek near Middletown.

The original span was constructed in 1923, and widened in 1958. SHA says the new bridge has two, 12-foot lanes and ten-foot shoulders on each side.

Work began on the $4.4 million project in the summer of 2023.

Even though the work has been completed and motorists can use the new bridge, SHA says crews will remain on site into November to complete the landscaping work.

The contractor for the project was Franco’s Liberty Bridge in Clinton, a Maryland Department of Transportation certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise.
