Westminster, Md (KM) A man and a woman from Westminster were arrested Wednesday afternoon on drug offenses. Ashley Marie Higgs, 31, and Matthew Alan Nagy, 29, were taken into custody following a traffic stop.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says at around 3:26 PM, the Pro-Active Community Enforcement Team was on patrol in the area of Washington Road and East Green Street in Westminster when a deputy noticed a Toyota van with an excessively dark window tint. The vehicle was pulled over.
While speaking with Higgs, who was the driver, deputies say they noticed paraphernalia commonly used to smoke crack cocaine .in the vehicle. . A probable cause search was conducted., and deputies found 721 capsules of a white/pink powder substance suspected of being fentanyl (353.2 grams): 110 bags of a white rock substance suspected of being cocaine (46.2 grams); more than $1100 in cash; a digital scale with a white powder residue; various drug packaging materials; and some metal knuckles.
The Sheriff’s Office says Higgs was found to have additional drugs and a small plastic bag with trace amounts of white residue.
Both Higgs and Nagy were taken into custody. Higgs is charged with possession of drugs (not cannabis); possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of contraband in a place of confinement. Nagy is charged with concealing a dangerous weapon; distribution and dispensing of a large amount of drugs; possession of drug paraphernalia; and two counts each of drug possession and possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
Higgs has been released on $1500 bond. Nagy is being held without bond..
