Sixth Congressional District Race Still Too Close To Call

Democrat April McClain Delaney leads Republican Neil Parrott by less than one percent.

Frederick, Md (KM) The race to fill the Sixth District Congressional seat in Maryland still remains  extremely close.  According to the Maryland State Board of Elections, Democrat April McClain Delaney has a less than one-percent lead over Republican Neil Parrott.

The Sixth District seat is open as Democratic  incumbent David Trone decided previously to run for US Senate from Maryland following the announcement that Senator Ben Cardin was retiring.  He lost  in the primary  to Angela Alsobrooks who won the general election on Tuesday.

Mail-in ballot counting is expected to resume on Thursday, November 7th in Frederick County, and continue through the weekend and into next Tuesday.

The canvassing of Provisional ballots is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 13th. The ballot count is expected to be completed by Friday November 15th which is when the certification of the election results is scheduled to take place.

The Sixth District consists of Frederick, Washington, Allegany and Garrett Counties and a piece of Montgomery County.
