Middletown, Md (KM) There’s some good news for skateboarders and riders of all ages. The Frederick County Division of Parks and Recreation says the new Middletown Park Skate Spot and Pump Track will formally open on Tuesday, December 3rd with a ribbon cutting. Officials say the new facility,  located at Middletown Park,  is expected to inspire and challenge skateboarders while the pump track will provide a unique riding experience.

The Division of Parks and Recreation says the idea for this type of amenity began to take shape as a concept in 2009 for Middletown as the Frederick County Commissioners agreed to make a change in the Middletown Community Park master plan. “The installation of these skate spot features continues our efforts to provide low-cost, accessible recreation opportunities for all ages in all parts of the county, especially for youth and teens,” says Jeremy Kortright, the Director of the Division of Parks and Recreation, in a statement.  “The ability to bring this long-term dream to Middletown is a part of an ongoing effort to  bring positive actively to Frederick County.”

“Growing up in Myersville, we dreamed of having a skatepark in Frederick County. It’s incredible to see that dream become a reality now in Middletown,”: says David Dulberger, a teacher at Middletown Middle School, in a statement. “This skate spot gives today’s kids a safe, welcoming space to connect, grow and challenge themselves.”

The ribbon cutting will take place at 3:30 PM, December 3rd, 2024 at the entrance to Middletown Park at 7628 Coblentz Road.
