It will be held at the AAA Center on Buckeystown Pike.
Frederick, MD (KM) AAA is teaming up with IDEMIA, a Transportation Security Administration enrollment provider, to get residents who are not enrolled in TSA PreCheck to sign up. The event will take place on Thursday, December 5th, 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon , and 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. On Friday, December 6th, it will be held from 9:00 AM until 12:00 noon. The enrollment will take place at the AAA Car Care, Insurance and Travel Center, 5620 Buckeystown Pike, Frederick, Md.
AAA spokeswoman Ragina Ali says being a part of TSA PreCheck will speed up the process for travelers going through airport security. “And it’s basically an expedited service for those who enrolled in the TSA PreCheck program which enables identified low risk air travelers to basically enjoy sort of expedited efficient security screening process when they fly out of area airports not just in our region, but across the country,”::she says.
Ali says passengers who are part of the TSA PreCheck program will not need to remove their shoes, 3-1-1 laptops, belts or light jackets as they go through airport security.
Anyone who wants to enroll in TSA PreCheck needs to go on line to aaa.com/tsa to make an appointment. “You pay the enrollment fee of $78 which can be paid by credit card, money order or what have you, ” says Ali. “And you go to the in-person appointment.” Cash and personal checks will not be accepted, says AAA.
Then you come to the AAA center to finish the enrollment process. “And basically you will then be given what’s called a Known Traveler Number. That takes about three to five days. And then you will get the full basically approved screening which will enable you when you fly to go through the screening process a lot easier,”: says Ali.
The KTN must be added to flight reservations in order to enjoy TSA PreCheck benefits, AAA says.
AAA also says when you come in to complete the enrollment process, you need to bring documentation which proves your identify and citizenship status. You will also be fingerprinted as part of a background check.
Even though this event is taking place at the AAA center in Frederick, Ali says you do not need to be a member to enroll.
The TSA PreCheck enrollment lasts for five years.
