Trial Of Va. Man In Frederick County, Md. Nears End

He’s charged with attempted 1st-degree murder.

Frederick, Md (KM) Both the State and the defense rested their cases on Thursday in the trial of David Clayton Hanson, 34, of Madison Heights, Virginia. He has been on trial this week in Frederick County Circuit Court on the charges of attempted 1st-degree murder, 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault and numerous firearms offenses.

Hanson was arrested in Frederick in November, 2021 for pointing a gun at a woman sitting in her vehicle talking with an acquaintance. Police say Hanson racked his handgun, aimed it at the victim, and pulled the trigger. but the gun didn’t fire.

The State’s Attorney’s Office says closing arguments will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday.
