Suspect In The Murder Of Insurance Company CEO Has Ties To Maryland

New York, NY (KM) A person of interest taken into custody on Monday for the murder last week of the CEO of United Health Care, Brian Thompson, has ties to Maryland. Several news media outlets report Luigi Mangione, 26, is from Towson, and has family in Maryland, including some members who own several country clubs, including the Haysfield Country Club in Hunt Valley. They also bought the Turf Valley Country Club in 1978, converting it   into a golf course and residential community, according to the Baltimore Banner.

The media outlets say this person of interest is also the cousin of State Delegate Nino Mangione who represents parts of Baltimore County.

He also has a bachelor degree and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. .

Mangione was arrested on Monday at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania on a weapons charge. . News Media outlets say he was recognized by a someone who had seen photos of this person of interest circulated by law enforcement agencies. . Police say the gun found on Mangione matches the description of the murder weapon.
