Bicyclist Taken To The Hospital After Being Struck By A Motor Vehicle In Hagerstown

Police are continuing their investigation.

Hagerstown, Md (KM) Hagerstown Police continue their investigation into an incident where a bicyclist was struck.

Shortly after 9:00 AM on Thursday, officers responded to the 100 block of West Bethel Street where they found a man who had been struck by a motor vehicle while riding his bicycle. He was suffering from life threatening injuries, and was taken to Meritus Medical Center.

Authorities say the driver of the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene, but officers located him a short distance away. He was brought to police headquarters for questioning.

Video surveillance from that area shows the bicyclist entering the road from north to south, and the vehicle was traveling eastbound. West Bethel Street is a one-way street.

An accident reconstructionist officer responded to the scene to conduct an investigation in coordination with the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Hagerstown Police say at this time, they are not releasing any identifying information about  the parties involved in this incident.
