Huck-a-Bear
Frederick, Md (KM) A GoFundMe Page has been set up for a Harpers Ferry, West Virginia man who lost everything in a fire several weeks ago, including his “most beautiful and most cherished friend,:” a dog named Huck-A-Bear. The dog was less than a year old, born on March 31st, 2024.
Michael Mills says on November 16th, 2024, he was attending a graduation ceremony for his brother at the Howard County Fire Academy when he received word that his house at 37 Campsite Court in Harpers Ferry was on fire. The flames destroyed everything, and Mills says he literally has just the clothes on his back, and the truck that he drives. .
“I’m certainly not trying to profit off of any of this and it’s taken me this long to even reach to you because I hate asking for money,” he says in a statement.
His current address is 1045 Boy Scout Road, Hedgesville, West Virginia, 25427.
Mills also says “I still have a my job at the VA in Martinsburg, West Virginia, but with all the debt piling up because of the fire and trying to find a new plan (in addition to going through divorce proceedings, which was why I’ve lived separate from my wife in the first place), every paycheck of mine is gone before it even got into my account, and now I’ve having to appeal to food banks and churches just to eat.”
Mills says he has set up a Go Fund Me Page to help raise money. You can donate to Rebuilding My Life After Fire, organized by mlm615mills.
As of Monday, $625 has been raised, according to the G0FundMe site. The goal is $2,000.
