Life Sentenced Handed Down For Man Convicted In Fatal Stabbing In Frederick

The State’s Attorney’s Office says it resulted in a cocaine sale gone bad.

Frederick, Md (KM) A man convicted of 1st-degree murder last year learned his fate on Friday. The State’s Attorney’s Office says Ruben Terod Williams, 40, was given a life sentence by a Frederick County Circuit Court Judge for stabbing Mary Alice Seward, 41. The incident occurred along Linden Avenue near West Patrick Street not far from a GetGo gas station.

Authorities say Williams was with a group of people in a Honda Civic who met Seward in that area on December 31st, 2022 to purchase cocaine. She was in the back seat of a Ford Escape with some other people.

The deal went bad, and Williams got out of the Honda, approached the Escape and pointed a knife at Seward, demanding his money back.   When she refused, Williams stabbed her once in the chest. The knife pieced Seward’s heart, according to testimony in court..

Her boyfriend drove Seward to Frederick Health Hospital..   Despite efforts by the medical staff, Seward succumbed to her injuries.

Williams was convicted by a jury for the 1st-degree murder charge in November 22nd, 2024.

“This was a horrible stabbing committed by a horrible person with a horrible record,” says Frederick County State’s Attorney Charlie Smith, in a statement. “We wanted life without parole, but certainly respect the Judge’s decision to give a straight life sentence.”

Circuit Court Judge Scott Rolle handed down the sentence on Friday.
