Among the victims were students, parents, and staff from Fairfax and Loudoun County Public Schools
Frederick, Md. (DG) – The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the fatal accident between an Ameican Airlines plane and a Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday night at Reagan National Airport. The plane was from Wichita, Kansas and carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, and the Black Hawk helicopter, from Fort Belvoir, had three U.S. Army personnel on board. There were no survivors. We are now learning more about some of the people who lost their lives in the deadly accident.
The Northern Virginia’s figure skating community is in mourning after receiving the news that a coach and multiple young skaters and their family members were killed.
Fairfax County Public Schools said three of its students and six parents were on the passenger plane. The school system said two of the parents were also current or former staff members of the school system
A group from the Skating Club of Northern Virginia were also onboard the flight. Loudoun County Public Schools said in a statement that multiple crash victims were former LCPS students.
A recovery operation continues on the Potomac River.
