Frederick Physician Facing Rape and Assault Charges After Indictment

A longtime Frederick primary care physician is facing rape and assault charges after a grand jury indicted him for allegedly sexually assaulting a patient during two separate appointments

Frederick, Md. (DG) – A Frederick doctor is facing serious charges after being indicted in a sexual assault investigation. Police arrested Dr. Syed Haque, 64, after a Frederick County grand jury returned an indictment on multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree rape.

Authorities say the charges stem from two separate incidents involving the same patient during medical visits in October 2024 and January 2025. The victim initially hesitated to report the first incident but came forward after the second, alerting office staff and police.

According to investigators, Dr. Haque allegedly assaulted the patient under the pretense of conducting pelvic and breast exams, which were not related to her visits. Following an extensive investigation, detectives presented their findings to prosecutors, leading to the indictment on January 31st.

Dr. Haque was arrested at his home on February 4th without incident. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine if there may be additional victims.
