Frederick Police Charge New Jersey Man With Vandalism Incidents

Authorities say he drew graffiti on properties with a paint pen.

Frederick, Md.  (KM) A Toms River, New Jersey man was arrested earlier this month in Frederick for multiple acts of vandalism. Daniel Simmons, 35, was taken into custody.

Police say on February 3rd, 2025, officers responded to multiple calls of graffiti at several locations along North Market Street. Businesses and city property were the targets. . Authorities say an individual used a paint pen to paint messages on trash cans, an electrical box, a parking meter and the outside walls of a local business. .

Police say during their investigation, officers were able to look at surveillance video, and saw a man using a paint pen to deface property in the 300 block of North Market Street. Additional footage also led officers to an Airbnb in the 100 block of North Market Street where the suspect had stayed overnight.

The Sheriff’s Office located Simmons’ vehicle parked at a business along Urbana Pike. Frederick Police Officers were dispatched to that location where they took Simmons into custody.

He is charged with five counts of malicious destruction of property.

Simmons has been released on recognizance.
