Frederick, Md (KM) A major manufacturer of mobile elevating work platforms and telehandlers is expanding in Frederick County. Governor Wes Moore’s office has announced that JLG Industries will be building a new facility at the Riverside Research Park which will be 113-thousand square feet in size. The new facility is expected to accommodate growth, ongoing innovation and support the needs of team members and customers, according to the Governor’s Office.
“Innovation drives growth in Maryland and helps keep our economy competitive. We’re thrilled that JLG Industries, which has been a great partner to Maryland for man years, has chosen our state for its research and development facility,” Governor Moore says in a statement. “Our administration looks forward to continuing to work with JLG Industries to create jobs and grow the economy.”
It’s expected to be a state-of-the-art facility to develop new products along with a new equipment testing area. It will have new workspaces conducive to holding company meetings, and multiple customers visiting simultaneously.
As part of the financing for the project, the Maryland Department of Commerce will be working to approve a $500,000 conditional loan through Advantage Maryland . Along with that, the Frederick County Office of Economic Development is expected to cover $50,000 in permitting or project fees.
As the project moves along, JLG Industries is expected to be eligible for additional incentives from the state, city and the county. That includes up to $75,000 through the City of Frederick’s Commercial and Industrial Tax Credit program,

JLG Industries is based in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, and has five manufacturing facilities in the US. It also has locations in the United Kingdom, France, Mexico and China. The company also has sales and service support in the US, Canada, Latin America, parts of Europe and Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
The company was founded in 1969, and operated independently until it was acquired by Oshkosh Corporation in 2006.
