Keymar, Md (KM) Three juveniles were arrested Thursday night at the Sliver Oak Academy in Keymar.
Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and officers from the Taneytown and Westminster Police Departments responded to the school at 999 Crouse Mill Road at around 6:23 PM for a large fight, with reports that students were armed with fire extinguishers, rocks and chair legs, and were overtaking the campus.
An investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began at around 5:35 PM with an altercation between a student, 13, and a staff member, which resulted in the staff member needing medical attention. The juvenile suspect was arrested. Two students age 14 and 17 were also arrested for fighting each other.
All three were taken to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for processing. They were turned over to the Department of Juvenile Services which decided to have the kids returned to the Silver Oak Academy.
The 17-year-old was also charged with an incident earlier in the afternoon involving another staff member. That staff member also sought medical attention after this incident.
Authorities say charges for destruction of property are likely following completion of the investigation into this incident.
