Four Individuals Charged Following A Vehicle Chase

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says two are in the US illegally.

Frederick, Md (KM) Four suspects were arrested following a vehicle chase Thursday night which began in Frederick County, and ended in Montgomery County.

The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy saw a suspicious Nissan van along Route 85 and Grove Road at around 9:20 PM. . He did a check on the license and found out it was reported stolen. The deputy tried to stop it, but the van continued on to Interstate 270 at 100 miles per hour.

The pursuit continued into the Montgomery County, and a Maryland State Police helicopter was called in to assist.

During the chase and after getting off the Interstate, the stolen vehicle continued along Shady Grove Road and Briardale Road. It rammed another vehicle which was waiting at a red light , and continued to flee. Two occupants of the rammed vehicle were taken to the hospital.

At that point, the Sheriff’s Office broke off the pursuit.;

Montgomery County Police stopped the vehicle at 751 Progress Way, and took all four suspects into custody.

Deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the vehicle which netted crack cocaine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. . The driver of the vehicle was found by Montgomery County Police offices inside a Sheetz store trying to dispose of some of the drugs by flushing them down the toilet.

Shawn Elswick (Driver), 25, of Riverdale, MD:

-ASSAULT-FIRST DEGREE

-ASSAULT, 2ND DEGREE (AGGRAVATED ASSAULT)

-MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

-CDS: POSSESS/ADMINISTER CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE

-CDS: POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA

-DRIVING VEH. ON HWY. AT SPEED EXCEEDING LIMIT

-ATTEMPT BY DRIVER TO ELUDE POLICE IN OFFICIAL POLICE VEHICLE

-FAILURE TO STOP AFTER ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE TO ATTENDED

-FAILURE TO RETURN TO AND REMAIN AT SCENE OF ACCIDENT

-FAIL OF DRIVER IN ACCIDENT TO FURNISH REQ ID AND LIC

-MULTIPLE OTHER TRAFFIC OFFENSES

Reny Escobar (Passenger), 24-years-old, of Frederick

-MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

-POSS/ADMINISTER CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE

Walter Caberera Miranda (Passenger), 28-years-old

-MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

Following his arrest, Designated Immigration Officers (DIO) within the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office 287(g) Program placed an Immigration Detainer-Notice of Action, form I-247A, on CABERERA Miranda, Walter who is illegally present in the United States. ICE lodges detainers on individuals arrested on criminal charges who ICE has probable cause to believe are removable noncitizens.

Once CABERERA Miranda, Walter has satisfied his local criminal charges, he will be released to ICE custody. The 287(g) program is a law enforcement tool and serves as a deterrent to criminal illegal aliens.

Jose Torres Juarez, 19-years-old

-POSS OF PARAPHERNALIA
