Frederick County Health Department Seeks Dog Who Bit An Individual In Braddock Heights Tuesday Morning

Officials say they need to know about about the dog’s health.

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a dog which bit someone on Tuesday morning.

The victim was a recycling truck driver who was picking up recycling in the 6800 block of Potomac Avenue in Braddock Heights at around 8:40 AM when  that person was bitten. . The dog, which was on a leash at the time, is described as a short-haired, median sized black and brown dog. Its owner was wearing a green jacket and brown hat.

Anyone who has information on the dog or its owner is asked to contact Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544. Officials say they need to know if the dog is in good health ten days after the bite. If not, the victim will have to undergo expensive rabies treatment. If the animal is in good health, the victim will not need to undergo this treatment.

If someone or a pet is bitten or scratched by another animal, the Health Department says get the owner’s name, and phone number, and then call Animal Control at 301-600-1544. If it’s wildlife, consult with your pet’s  veterinarian, or call the Health Department’s Environmental Health Services at 301-600-1717.

For those who have been exposed to an animal with rabies or suspected of having rabies, call the Community Health Services at 301-600-3342.
