Frederick, Md (KM) Sentence was handed down on Tuesday in Frederick County Circuit Court in connection with a road rage incident last year. Bryant Allen Paradine, 30, of Littlestown, Pennsylvania was given 25 years in prison with all but five years suspended. Paradine pleaded guilty to 1st-degree assault and the use of a firearm in a crime of violence. As part of his sentence, the judge ordered that Paradine not be considered for parole; he must serve all five years in prison.
Paradine was arrested last year for a road rage incident. In August 14th, at around 7:30 AM, a motorist reported to State Police that his vehicle was shot at by a person operating an SUV with Pennsylvania license plates. The incident occurred along southbound Route 15 at Tippen Drive.
Troopers located the SUV, whose driver identified as Paradine, admitted being involved in the road rage incident. He was arrested at that point.
As part of his sentence, Paradine will be placed on three-years supervised probation after he completes his time in prison, and that includes anger management classes. He is also prohibited from owning a firearm for life.
During sentencing on Tuesday, the victim, who is in agreement with the sentence, told the court. “He {paradine} was tailgating me, cut me off, brake checked me, pulled out a gun and pulled the trigger. Why did he think he had the right to decide if my family would never see me again and make my wife a widow.”
State’s Attorney Charlie Smith said in an statement about the case:: “Road rage is a real danger in our community. While many of these cases are first-time offenders, they present too great a public safety risk. to not put them in prison. We must send a message that if you are willing to jeopardize someone’s life, the repercussions will change your life forever.”
