Owner Of A Dog Which Scratched A Child Needs To Contact The Frederick County Health Department

Officials want to make sure the dog is healthy ten days after the incident.

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department says it needs to contact the owner of a dog who scratched a child on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at the Urbana Community Park near the soccer fields at around 7:00 PM. . The owner was helping the child look for a lost watch. One of the three dogs the man was holding on a leash scratched the child. The owner is described as a White male, and the largest of the dogs he had on a leash scratched the child.

Health officials say they need to contact the dog’s owner. The animal needs to be verified to be in good health ten days after this incident. If the owner is not contacted. or does not come forward, the child will be advised to seek expensive rabies treatments.

The Health Department says if a person is bitten or scratched, or your pet is bitten or scratched by an animal, get the owner’s name, address and phone number, and call Animal Control at 301-600-1544. If the animal is wildlife, contact your pet’s veterinarian (if applicable), or call Environmental Health Services at 301-600-1717.

If you he been exposed to an animal confirmed to have rabies, or suspected of having rabies, call Community Health Services at 301-600-3342.
