Md. State Fire Marshal’s Office Bomb Squad Technicians Dispatched To Boonsboro High

Officials say a suspected improvised explosive device was found.

Boonsboro, Md (KM) The Maryland State Fire  Marshal’s Office is investigating an incident at Boonsboro High School Wednesday afternoon.

Bomb Squad Technicians were called to the school along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. They say a suspected  improvised explosive device was found in a student’s backpack. The device was determined to be a hoax and was rendered harmless.

Explosives Detection canines conducted a sweep of the school, and no other devices were found. Deputy State Fire Marshals and Bomb Squad Technicians cleared the scene by 3:00 PM.

Two students were taken to the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack for questioning. They have since been released to the custody of their parents.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says any charges in this incident will follow consultations between the local state’s attorney’s office and the Department of Juvenile Services..
