Columbia Man Killed In Two-Vehicle Collision in Howard County

One of the vehicles was reported stolen by Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Ellicott City, Md (KM) A Columbia man was killed in an early-morning crash in Howard County.   State Police say Fred Eromosele Ehimen, 49, was operating a Toyota Camry along the ramp from westbound I-70 to southbound Route 29 when it was struck head-on by a Ford Explorer.

Ehimen was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the Explorer was a 17-year-old boy from Baltimore who was medivaced to Shock Trauma. Two passengers  in the Explorer, ages 13 and 16, were taken to area hospitals by ambulance.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation determined the Explorer was heading in the wrong direction along the I-70 ramp. They also say the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office reported the Explorer had been stolen, and deputies and Howard County Police were pursuing that vehicle until they were told to break off the pursuit.

State Police say charges are pending in this crash following a consultation  with the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The investigation into this crash is continuing.
