Gaithersburg, Md (KM) Montgomery County Police have charged a Silver Spring man with a shooting that occurred earlier this month.. Damonne Antonio Shayne Martin, 23, was taken into custody on Tuesday, charged with 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment and several firearms offenses..
Police say on Monday., April 7th, around 9:00 PM, officers responded to Dick’s Sporting Goods in the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road. The store’s front windows were damaged by gunshots. No one was hurt.
Authorities say Martin was in the store earlier in the day, but was removed after he was suspected of concealing merchandise.
When officers made their arrest on Tuesday, they found Martin to be in possession of a loaded handgun and suspected cocaine.
Police say they conducted a search of Martin’s home, and found suspected cocaine, and items of an evidentiary value.
