Man Arrested For Kidnapping In Montgomery County


Frederick, Md. (DG) – A Bethesda man is behind bars after a dramatic kidnapping Friday afternoon in Montgomery County.

Police say 31-year-old Robert Deeter abducted a woman at gunpoint near the 10300 block of Old Georgetown Road around 2:30 p.m. Officers quickly spotted Deeter driving a red Toyota RAV4 with the victim inside.

The woman managed to escape near Rockledge Drive and I-270 when Deeter slowed down. She told police she knew Deeter and confirmed she had been kidnapped.

Authorities later tracked him to Beech Avenue, where he barricaded himself in the car. After tense negotiations, Deeter surrendered peacefully. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

He’s now facing multiple charges including kidnapping, first-degree assault, and handgun violations. Deeter is being held without bond.
