Students and staff will need to wear masks inside school buildings.
Frederick, Md (KM) A new mask policy has been announced for Frederick County Public Schools. Beginning on August 9th, all staff and students will be required to wear masks when in school buildings. If there are only adults in the building, masking is required when social distancing is not possible. Unvaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to mask up at all times.
The School System says masks will not be required outdoors, but strongly encouraged for those who are not vaccinated against COVID-19. And masks will continue to be required on all school buses.
The only exceptions to the mask requirement are medical conditions, disability, developmental immaturity and other safety or health concerns as indicated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This new policy follows recommendations from the CDC in which issued new guidelines calling for the return of the wearing of masks inside in virus hot spots around the country, as well as the dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The agency also calls on schools to require masks for students, teachers, staff and visitors.
