The survey will help identify the needs of the community.
Frederick, MD (KB) Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner is asking residents to share their priorities and ideas for how federal money from the American Rescue Plan Act should be spent in the county.
Gardner is encouraging those who live and work in Frederick County to participate in an online survey. “It will only take about five minutes to complete,” she said. “We know that the very best ideas come from the people, so we want to engage the public.”
Gardner gave some ideas for how the money could be spent.
“Some options include supporting business recovery and work force development, we know there are a lot of businesses looking for employees, or to support people who find challenges in their housing situations, or perhaps you think emphasis should be placed on addressing mental health issues, we’ve certainly had issues resulting from isolation, but also including alcohol and drug misuse,” Gardner said.
Other ideas include improving access to child care, as well as access to broadband connectivity.
The county is expected to receive $50 million dollars, with $25 million coming this year, and the remainder coming next year.
“The goal, the focus, is to put money out into the community to support our economic recovery and to help people,” Gardner said of the American Rescue Plan Act. It’s meant to help communities build back stronger after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gardner said the survey for the public will remain open through August 24th, 2021.
