The Frederick County Health Department says there was a sewage overflow in that area.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department is strongly urging residents to avoid the waters in Founche Creek that runs through the Spring Ridge community, which is west of Spring Ridge Parkway and north of Interstate 70. The agency says this is due to a sewage overflow in the vicinity of Cliffside Terrace.
In addition, residents should stay away from the waters in Linganore Creek to the Monocacy River, and boaters are advised to avoid water contact with the Monocacy River downstream from Linganore Creek. The Health Department is discouraging swimming and full body immersion in these waters..
If you happen to come into contact with water from these streams, you should wash yourself thoroughly with soap and water, especially before eating. Fish from these waters can be eaten if they’ve been cleaned, scaled and cooked, the Health Department says.
These waters should be avoided for the next ten days, until October 14th. Signs will be posted.
