Multiple suspects identified.
Middletown, Md. (KM) – Another Frederick County public school was the target of a threat; this time, it was Middletown Middle School.
On Wednesday morning at 9:00, the Sheriff’s Office says deputies and the school resource officer responded to Middletown Middle School for a social media threat against the school, specifically targeting Black students within the school.
On Snapchat and Instagram. It was targeting Black students. Deputies say they worked with school administrators and identified multiple suspects.
Authorities say they are continuing to investigate this incident, and charges could be filed if it turns out that criminal laws were violated. The suspects are being treated as juveniles and their names and other identifying information will not be released, deputies say..
The Sheriff’s Office says Middletown Middle School was not evacuated, and no lockdown was put in place. But the School System did release a message to the Middletown Middle School community through Find Out First outlining what happened, and that there was no immediate danger to the community.
