They were located early Tuesday morning.
Westminster, Md. (KM) – A 12-year-old boy and his father who were the subject of an Amber Alert in Carroll County on Monday have been located unharmed. State Police say Christopher Geiger, 35,of Hampstead, and his son were found in a farm field off of Kate Wagner Road in Westminster, and evaluated by medical personnel. Both were taken to Carroll Hospital Center as a precaution.
Troopers say the boy was reported missing on Monday at 1:30 PM when his mother said he didn’t show up for school. She called in the report to the Hampstead Police Department. Authorities were told Geiger was operating a black Jeep Wrangler , and was last seen leaving with the child on Friday, April 8th. The Amber Alert was issued at 4:00 PM on Monday.,
State Police found Geiger’s Jeep Wrangle an hour later abandoned at the farm field, and a search the property began.
The boy and his father were located Tuesday morning.at 8:45 in a shed about a half-mile from the abandoned vehicle.
Negotiators from the State Police Crisis Negotiating Team responded and made contact with Geiger. About two hours later, Geiger surrendered to police and the child was safely recovered.
There were no injuries to police or civilians.
State Police say charges are expected to be filed following the outcome of their investigation, and consultations with the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office.
