It will be held at Ballenger Creek Park.
Frederick, Md. (KM) – Frederick County residents are invited to National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2nd. The Sheriff’s Office is hosting the event which will take place at Ballenger Creek Park, 5420 Ballenger Creek Pike, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Spokesman Todd Wivell says there will be plenty of activities. “We’re going to have canine demonstration by our own Frederick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team; a scheduled landing of the Maryland State Police Trooper Three helicopter, that’s always a bit hit. We’re going to unveil the new Frederick County Command Truck. The County’s going to do that,” he says.
“Then we’re going to have a ton of vehicles out here for kids to climb in, get in, see what the police officers, law enforcement officers from Maryland State Police, and our partners at Division of Fire and Rescue Services use and operate everyday,” Wivell continues.
Other agencies represented at the National Night Out include the Frederick County Emergency Management and Communications Center; Division of Citizens Services Family Partnership; State’s Attorney’s Office; TransIT Services of Frederick County; Mothers Against Drunk Driving; the FBI’s Baltimore Office; the US Secret Service; and Be Smart for Kids. There will also be food and dessert trucks.
In addition, there will be Night Out Events on Tuesday, August 2nd at the Emmitsburg Community Park in Emmitsburg; the Middletown Carnival Grounds/Fire Activities Building in Middletown; and at Doubs Meadow Park in Myersville. “The one in Myersville will be in honor of Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Deputy 1st Class Kenny Olander who passed away this past year,” says Wivell.
The hours for all those Night Out events will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
National Night Out started 39 years ago by a community which decided to keep their porch lights on all night to show support for their local police, and it has grown since then.
“We want to encourage everyone to come out,” Wivell says. :”We know that in today’s environment with inflation and the talk of a recession and all that, and people looking for free and fun things to do, here’s an opportunity.”
