The winning candidate leads by one vote.
Frederick, Md. (KM) – The Frederick County Board of Elections on Wednesday conducted a rescan of the mail-in and provisional ballots from the 20-22 primary election. In the Council District Three Democratic Primary, Jazmin Di Cola still leads incumbent Councilwoman M.C. Keegan-Ayer, but by one vote. The totals are Di Cola with 2,298 votes, and Keegan-Ayer with 2,297 votes.
The Board of Elections ordered the rescan following discrepancies between the results and the actual mail-in and provisional ballots received. The Board decertified the results, and had the ballots scanned again on Wednesday.
Keegan-Ayer has filed suit alleging that Di Cola doesn’t live in District Three and should be disqualified. Di Cola says she does live in District Three.
Keegan-Ayer asked for a recount in the District Three Democratic primary. . That was scheduled for Tuesday, but it was canceled due to the discrepancies found in the ballot count.
