It allows crews to do more clean up following Saturday’s tanker truck explosion and fire.
Frederick, Md (KM) Motorists who travel northbound Route 15 need to know about a road closure on Wednesday. The City of Frederick says the far-right lane of Route 15 north will be closed so that environmental crews can continue cleanup operations in that area following last Saturday’s tanker truck explosion and fire which killed the driver.
The lane closure is expected to begin at 9:00 AM, .with crews finishing up by 3:00 PM.
The City is also reminding residents that over the coming days and weeks, workers will be seen in the areas surrounding the crash, doing environmental tests and addressing soils. Any contaminated soils will be removed, and replaced with clean soil.
Also, the City says the crash and chemical spill caused no damage to Carroll Creek, or the local sanitary sewer system. But some fuel did enter limited section of the storm drain and culverts between the crash site and Baker Park. Officials say these will be cleared and remediation will take place. There was no threat to the public or residences as the fuel leak was localized to small area around Baker Park, city officials say.
There was significant fire damage along Apple Avenue, and that road will remain closed for an extended period of time for staff to do their work.
