Frederick, Md (KM) Weapons charges were filed against a Frederick man following a traffic stop last week. The Sheriff’s Office says Austin Lee Stone, 22, was taken into custody.
On Thursday, March 9th, at around 9:50 PM, a deputy on routine patrol along Route 194 near Devilbiss Bridge Road noticed a Nissan Sentra traveling at a high rate of speed. The speed was clocked at 80 miles per hour.
A traffic stop was initiated. During the stop, the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, and began a search. A semi-automatic pistol was found in the front passenger side floorboard in a backpack. The weapon was unloaded, but there was a magazine nearby. The pistol had no serial, make or model.
While searching the trunk, the deputy found a semi-automatic rifle. It too was unloaded, but a magazine for this weapon was found in the backpack which was searched previously. The rifle also had no serial number, make or model. Continuing the search, the deputy found a glass smoking pipe, and marijuana in the vehicle.
Stone was taken into custody, charged with having a handgun in a vehicle, having a handgun on his person, and two counts of possession of a firearm without a serial number.
