Carroll County Fire Injures A Man While Making Homemade Fireworks

Bomb Technicians and a local Hazmat Team were called in to process the scene

Westminster, MD – (MO) The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating a fire in Carroll County that injured a Westminster man

On April 21, at around 10 AM, the Westminster Fire Department responded to the 300 block of Parisian Way for a house on fire.

The severely burned homeowner was located by a Deputy Fire Marshal who arrived before firefighters. The 68 year old said he was making homemade fireworks at the time of the fire.

Firefighters arrived soon after and managed to contain the fire to the garage of the home. Maryland State Police flew the injured man to Medstar Washington Hospital Center.

Bomb Technicians with the State Fire Marshals Office and explosive specialists with ATF worked jointly to safely collect evidence at the scene. The Investigation is ongoing.
