The Running Festival included a 5K, kid’s fun run, half marathon and a team relay.
Frederick, Md (BW)- The Frederick Running Festival took place on May 6 and 7, 2023, bringing more than 2,300 runners.
The Festival was put on by Corrigan Sports Enterprises.
The races began on Saturday night with the kid’s fun run starting at 5 p.m. It was followed by the twilight 5K at 6 p.m.
The winner of the 5K was Benjamin Linne, from Joppa. He finished with a time of 16:30.
The team relay and half marathon races took place Sunday morning at 7 a.m.
The overall winner of the half marathon was Robert Creese, 29, from Mount Airy.
Creese ran track and field for Penn State University. He finished with a time of 1:09:13.
“I train 80 miles a week trying to do longer tempos…” Creese said.
49-year-old Claire Heasman won first place for the female group, finishing with a time of 1:23:41, a personal best. She has been living in Frederick for 13 years and is a member of the Frederick Steeplechasers. Heasman will be returning home to the United Kingdom next month.
“It was a good way to close off my Steeplechasers running,” Heasman said.
The Frederick Running Festival will return in 2024 on May 4 and 5.
