Air Quality In Frederick County At Code Yellow Friday Afternoon

That is considered moderate.

The National Weather Service says the forecast this afternoon for Washington D.C., Baltimore, and the surrounding metro areas is code level YELLOW...which is moderate...and means people unusually sensitive to air pollution may be mildly affected. 

The areas in Maryland covered by this Code Yellow alert include Frederick and Carroll Counties; Northwest, Central and Southeast Montgomery County;  Northwest, Central and Southeast Howard County; and Eastern and Western Loudon County, Virginia.  

Primary pollutant will be particles.

For the past week, smoke from wild fires in Canada have covered the region, making it difficult for some people to breathe.  Those with heart and lung ailments were urged to remain indoors, and those who were relatively healthy were told to limit their time outside.
