Frederick, Md (KM) A household hazardous waste drop off event is scheduled for Saturday, July 15th in Frederick County. It will be held at the upper parking lot at MYMEO Field at 21 Stadium Drive from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon. .Citizens who are taking part should access the stadium via New Design Road, and not South Market Street.
The Division of Solid Waste Management and Recycling says some hazardous items that can be disposed of at this event include rechargeable batteries, pesticides and general household products labeled “toxic” or “hazardous.”
Other items which can be brought to the drop off event include aerosol paints, brake fluid, flares, compact and tube fluorescent light bulbs and ballasts, fungicides, household cleaners, , mothballs, old fuel, photographic and pool chemicals, stains, sealants, smoke detectors, solvents and thinners. A contractor will be on hand to process the materials for safe disposal, according to the Division of Solid Waste Management and Recycling.
Items that will not be taken are ammunition, biological waste, explosives, firearms, fire extinguishers, LED light bulbs, paints, pressured tanks over one pound (such as propane, helium or freon) and radioactive materials.
