Smithsburg Man Killed After Being Hit By Car And Thrown Over Bridge In Baltimore

The victim was trying to assist a motorist whose car was broken down.

Baltimore, Md. (BW)- A Smithsburg man was killed after being struck by a vehicle, and thrown 100-feet over the Interstate 395 Bridge in Baltimore on Sunday, August 13.

50-year-old Robert Horne was trying to help somebody around 10 PM with a disabled vehicle in the left lane and left shoulder of I-395 near Interstate 95.

Two other vehicles crashed near the disabled vehicle, and one struck Horne. The impact sent him over the bridge wall and into the water below.

The Dive Team from the Baltimore City Fire Department was sent to the scene. It took divers an hour to locate Horne.

He was found unconscious and unresponsive in the water. Horne was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two vehicles that struck Horne and the disabled vehicle were described as a 2017 Nissan Sedan and a 2015 Mercedes.
