Sobriety Checkpoint To Be Set Up In Carroll County

This is part of the agency’s traffic safety initiative.

Carroll County, Md. (BW)- The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office will set up a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location on Saturday, August 19.

The goal of the checkpoint is to promote awareness and reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roadways.

The location of the checkpoint will be marked with lights, signs and uniformed officers.

Vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of death in Maryland.

The Sheriff’s Office will partner with the Maryland State Police, Hampstead Police, Mount Airy Police, Westminster Police and Sykesville Police to set up and run the checkpoint.

Several sobriety checkpoints are set up thoughout the year as part of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign.

Police are reminding motorists to drive sober, wear a seatbelt, obey the speed limit and eliminate distractions.

The public is urged to contact 911 if you suspect there is an impaired driver on the roadway.
