Some trails will be closed during that time.

Harpers Ferry, WV (KM) A portion of the Loudon Heights Trail, certain climbing routes and a section of the shoreline where the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers meet will be closed starting on September 12th. The Harpers Ferry National Historical Park says these closures will accommodate the rockslide stabilization work taking place along US Route 340. .

According to the Park Service, the Loudon Heights Trail will be closed one mile east of its intersection with the  Appalachian National Scenic Trail through the Split Rock Overlook. The Loudon Heights Trail will be monitored throughout the project and further closures  may be necessary for the safety of visitors  and construction workers, according to Park Service officials.

Climbing Routes in Virginia and West Virginia east of Chestnut Hill  Road will be closed during construction.   A 0.8 mile section of the shoreline below the work, and the area near the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers will also be closed.

Harper Ferry National Historical Park says there could  be intermittent   closures for pedestrians crossing the US 340 bridge, but that’s not expected to exceed ten minutes.

The Park Service says Harpers Ferry National Historical Park will remain open and will offer programming and other events during the closure.  Recreational trails and activities will not be affected.
