Hagerstown, Md (KM) Hagerstown Police have arrested a man following the death of his six-year-old son. Andre Derek Ford, 31, is charged with 1st-degree child abuse resulting in death, 1st-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, and neglect of a minor. He is currently being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center..
On Tuesday, November 28th at 12:51 PM, officers were sent to 200 block of North Locust Street for an unresponsive child. They discovered the six-year-old boy was deceased.
Authorities say the child was suffering from severe malnutrition and starvation. They also says their investigation revealed that the boy’s father failed to provide proper care and medical treatment.
A five-year-old boy was also found inside the home. He was removed and is undergoing medical treatment.
Police say their investigation is continuing, and further charges are pending following the outcome of an autopsy.
